Ann Larie & Derek found me just a few days before their wedding in Palm Springs. I'm so glad they did! Heat aside (imagine doing portraits, in the desert, in your sunday best, with temps hovering around 110...) it was an wonderful day. Their friends were all beautiful, funny, happy people, which made for an even more memorable time at the slick ACE Hotel. Set to M83's "Midnight City", this is a great visual time capsule of their amazing day.

Jenny + Kennedy. Their love story is long; eight years in the making! A long distance romance, ivy league credentials, Kennedy's Kenyan roots, college, law school, travels all over the world... If there ever was a "power couple", "Jennedy" most definitely is.

The song is a live performance of "Lovin' You Baby" by Charles Bradley, an amazing soul singer. Buy his record

This is Shelby + Tim's wedding video, shot in Liberty State Park, NJ, with the NYC skyline behind us. I think it's going to be amazing to look back and see the Freedom Tower under construction in the background. What a great time-stamp on a memorable day.

The song is "Sweet Disposition" by Temper Trap. What an appropriate song for such sweet people.  It's not the first time I've used this song in a video, but it goes to show that it's the couple that make a video unique, not the song...

But still.  A great song sure doesn't hurt.

You can buy the song here:

Emma + Stefan - Downtown Atlanta Wedding

This wedding was a personal joy for me to shoot. Emma and Stefan were neighbors in my Atlanta loft for a few years, before I moved to L.A., and I've missed their company often. Emma is the embodiment of class and grace, and I don't think I've ever hung out with Stefan where he didn't have me in stitches. When they called and said they'd finally decided to tie the knot, and would I be willing to fly back to Atlanta to shoot them, the answer was a resounding HELL YEAH!

Their wedding / reception was held at one of my favorite art galleries in Atlanta's Castleberry Hill historic district, called The Granite Room. Small, personal, fun, with food trucks to boot!

The song is "Ooh La La" by The Faces. Buy it here:

Emily + Carson - A Boston Wedding In The Fall.

A Boston wedding in the fall, with both western and chinese elements to the day, in the country, and in the city. Talk about a whirlwind day!! Congrats to the both of you!

The song is "Dog Days" by Florence & The Machine and can be purchased here:   Although we have another video cut to the same song, this just goes to show that every wedding is a completely unique experience, that evokes it's own unique emotion and memories of the day.

Maura + Nathan - A Sunny, Santa Monica, Beachside Wedding.

Who doesn't love a beachside wedding? Maura and Nathan are rock and roll at heart, so it's only fitting they chose a song by the Black Keys as their song. And shooting on the beach with Santa Monica pier in the background? Total eye candy. :)

The song is "I'll Be Your Man" by The Black Keys. Purchase it here:

Nicole + Jens: A London Wedding Video on the Thames

Nicole is from California.  Jens is from Germany.  They picked London as the best place to host a wedding for friends and family from all over the world.  On a boat. On the Thames.  At sunset....  Without a doubt, one of the most picturesque weddings I have ever attended.  And what made this even more spectacular was that the weather cooperated fully, with nary a cloud in the sky! Add a gathering of friends and family in fun & fancy hats and you get... "Nicole+Jens"!

The song is "Dog Days" by Florence & The Machine and can be purchased here:

Kimberley + Brandon: A Wedding in Wine Country...

Kimberley and Brandon were (and still are) an amazing couple! Good looking. Funny.  Great friends and family.  Fantastic Style.... this list goes on. So it almost seems unfair to the rest of us when you pair them against a California wine country backdrop, at sunset no less!  Their ceremony was absolutely enchanting.

The wedding was shot at the Firestone Vineyard in Los Olivos, CA.  The location is stunning.  The cocktail hour in the winery itself, surrounded by hundreds of barrels of wine, was beautiful.  And the reception, under the soft glow of hanging candles and paper laterns, was a wonderful finishing touch!

The song they chose for their video is "Good Life" by One Republic, which you can purchase here:B002WPXHV0

Gudrun+Todd - Giraffes & Cameras

Atlanta weddings in the summer are hot... UNLESS you think ahead and stage the whole wedding indoors, in a beautiful Southern mansion no less... It was a beautiful affair, and one that I won't soon forget. Giraffes everywhere, ladies in Chuck Taylors, more photographers than you could shake a stick at, beautiful natural lighting and a serendipitous interactive art display we got to use (the word blocks...).

The song is "4evermore (feat. Algebra)" by Anthony David. You can purchase the song here:B0056AQC7E

Olivia + Sean - A D.C. Summer Wedding Video.

Olivia + Sean get married in Washington D.C. This was a beautiful, East Coast, garden, summer wedding. It was a fun, beautiful, memorable night to say the least... And everyone at this wedding ready and willing to get their dance on! Super fun times!

Brand spanking new RRH animated logo!!

Seema + Shayan - Non-Traditional Videos Of A Traditional Indian Wedding.

Seema and Shayan approached me at the end of last year about doing videos (yes, plural) of their wedding.  Their wedding would be a traditional Indian wedding ceremony, but they wanted non-traditional videos that would recap their day.  This sounded like an amazing opportunity.  Not only was the day to be full of traditional cermony, customs, dress, and food, but the sheer size of the wedding was impressive.  It turned out to be an amazing experience for my whole team.

Many thanks to my whole team, as this was a team effort.  Thanks to Eric De Fino (videographer), Nick Jones (videographer), Lauren De La Crox (photographer), Tress Ritter (photographer), & Ashley Legg-Sotomayor (photographer).

Seema + Shayan - Part 1

This is the first half of Seema & Shayan's video celebrating their traditional Indian marriage ceremony. Why two videos? Simple. There is so much that happens as part of the wedding ceremony, and there are sooo many family members and guests who attend, one video just didn't seem like enough.

The song you're hearing is "Real Love" by Delorean. It's probably not what you'd expect in the music for an Indian wedding, but I think it's beautifully matched... Buy their music on Amazon here:V7ZoR0P

Seema + Shayan - Part 2

Part II of Seema and Shayan's wedding day is all about their reception. And a bit of goofing off in the park.

The song is "Where I'm Going" by Cut Copy. Buy it here:kowoPgK

More Nate Berkus Show Clips!

The show itself...

Then a backstage interview...

I've been really blessed to work some amazing, impressive people.  Jonatan and Maria TOTALLY keep that streak alive! This video started with an email, "Me and my bride to be are going to elope to NYC from Sweden to get married." I read that first sentence and all I could think to respond was YES in ALL CAPS to express how SUPER EXCITED I WOULD BE TO DO THAT!! Of course, I think I held back a bit, and responded more tactfully than that.

This video was an interesting project as well, since I wouldn't be able to fly with Jonatan and Maria on their journey from Sweden to NYC.  So instead, I directed them from afar, and asked them to shoot those scenes and vignettes that I couldn't be there to shoot myself.  Kudos to them both for doing such an amazing job! The footage at the start of the video was done by them both!

Lastly, and this is more personal I suppose, but I want to thank both Jon and Maria for inviting me along on what was a very private, supremely romantic, adventure.  They couldn't have been nicer and more willing to collaborate with me, even when it meant hours walking around in the icy winter NYC air!

The song is "Little Bit" by Lykke Li (a Swedish artist) and you should go buy her record here:

Samantha + Andrew - The Wedding Video!

This is a wedding video unlike any other.  Because the wedding itself was unlike any other I've been invited to document.  Samantha and Andrew had arranged a surprise courthouse wedding!  They told their parents they were meeting up for family portraits, and instead marched them over to the courthouse for a beautiful snowy winter wedding!  My job was to document their special day, which included goofing around their apartment, watching them play Wii, Dungeons and Dragons, War Hammer, dressing up, etc....  Like I said -- a wedding day unlike any other in it's AWESOMENESS, GEEKINESS, AND ROMANTICISM!

Jess + Chris - Wedding Video

This is a power couple if I've ever met one.  Both awesome, talented, fun, and most definitely in love.  Great friends, amazing location (Stone Manor in Malibu), and fun for everyone.  All the ingredients for an amazing video.  Enjoy!

A big thank you to my good friend Eric De Fino for shooting with me

Carla + Nick - Wedding Video

Carla and Nick were some of the first to reach out to me after I posted "Lauren + JP".  They told me about their wedding on the beach and pier in Kitty Hawk, NC and I knew I wanted to be there.  We only had a few weeks to get to know one another via phone and email, and it took a few rounds of collaboration before we found the song that worked perfectly for them. We knew we wanted something unique, but different in tone than Lauren+JP.

After some serious thought and consideration, they chose "Aeroplane Over The Sea" by Neutral Milk Hotel. It's gentle, but unique, and a selection I thought would work well for the location of their wedding.  I highly recommend you buy the single.  You'll listen to it over and over and over again.

As with Lauren + JP, this is a video about two kids in love.  That it happens to be at the beach, on their wedding day, is totally secondary.  Carla and Nick, I wish you all the best in your lives together, full of love, loyalty, wine and cheese!

Lauren + JP - The Wedding Video!

Lauren + JP from Matt Odom on Vimeo.

I'm so pleased to post my first wedding music video!  Lauren and JP were amazing collaborators!  Their artistic sensibilities are wide ranging, and they immediately grasped the concept of what I wanted to, which was to create a music video more-so than a wedding video.  Granted, the subject matter is their wedding.  It's simply cut to one of their favorite songs ever.  (Sleepyhead by Passion Pit).

I'd love to know what you think!

Lauren + JP - The Wedding Video! Part 1

I'm so pleased to post my first wedding music video!  Lauren and JP could not have been a better fit as far as artistic collaborators go.  Their creative sensibilities are wide ranging, and they immediately grasped the concept of what I wanted to, which was to create a music video more-so than a wedding video.  Granted, the subject matter is their wedding.  It's simply cut to one of their favorite songs ever.  (Sleepyhead by Passion Pit -- buy the single or their album here.).

I'd love to know what you think!
